Problem - To redefine enterprise business management software for a company with clients all over the world in a variety of industries—from government, education, manufacturing, service and even zoos - and ensure it is adaptable for the different types of data and workflows required by the company's wide customer base.

Additional Challenges - While the existing software was dated and extremely challenging to navigate, it allowed for a level of customization that was unparalleled. It was necessary to maintain this flexibility for our clients.

Research

We interviewed stakeholders and key users. Working with the client we decided to focus on HR users and their workflow while continuously validating with other personas and workflows.

Key Workflow High-Level Concepts

We identified key workflows focused on our HR user. We quickly white-boarded a variety of ideas and concepts. We would narrowed down our concepts picking and selected the best elements to create our new workflows.

Alternate Workflows and Detailed Designs

We then would work through the alternative workflows for our key workflow and move into detailed design seeking opportunities to help the user understand their place in the process and to help elevate relevant information.

Design Systems Library

We created a design systems library, patterns and elements for the developers to use as they built the new experience and extended our designs and framework to additional workflows.

Visual Design

Visual designers then applied a new look and feel to a few key screens, further emphasizing relevant information to help users.
